The World from Islam

This book is written by a well know Australian jounalist who has spent extensive time in the middle east region and has collected information from many sources including first hand conversations and interviews with arab-muslims. I really enjoyed reading this book and hearing about a subject which isn't really understood in most parts of the western world: Islam. The book is not bias but presents information and truths which allow the reader to think. It is easy to read, as every topic is only a few pages long, which also keeps momentum while reading... The main topics are religion, culture, and views on modern conflicts in the region (mainly the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Americas post 9/11 war on terrorism) and relations with the west - primarily the USA. An overall good read to those interested in learning about the subject.

Don't go back to where you came from

This book is a short essay and introduction to Australia's history in relation to multiculturalism. I enjoyed reading this book as it was straight forward, offered different perspectives and each subject wasn't too long. I believe this book is aimed more at a general audience to increase their awareness on the truths of such issues as immigration and asylum policies, and explain why Australia's multiculturalism is unique in the world and a success. Worth the read if you have spare time.

Dies ist ein interessantes Buch, das die Erzählungen und Erfahrungen der Autorin beschreibt. Sarah zieht nach Delhi um mit ihrem Freund zu sein, der als Journalist beim BBC Australien arbeitet. Als Sarah ihre Geschichte erzählt, werde ich immer mehr bewegt und verbindet mit ihr während ich lese wie sie durch das Land reist und neue Freunde begegnet in einer komplett fremder Umgebung um ihr Selbst und neue Spiritualität zu finden. Durch ihre Geschichte lerne ich über Indische Sitten und auch Aspekte von Weltreligionen, die ich vorher noch nie gekannt habe.
